Tow-behind salt spreading for large car parks, depots and longer routes

Available through DRE.ie in Ireland, the BAUER STW 260 is a high-capacity tow-behind spreader for large car parks, depots and longer routes. The turning wheels drive the spreading disc, so it needs no power supply, wiring or hydraulics, and it spreads up to 12 m wide.

How much can it cover?

As a guide, a full load at 20 g/m² treats about 17,000 m². A 14,000 m² area – roughly two football pitches – takes around 20–45 minutes on one fill, with some material left over. Coverage and time change with the setting, material, speed and weather.

What does it attach to?

It tows behind a forklift, tractor or tug fitted with an approved tow hitch. Tell us the vehicle make and model and send a photograph of the hitch. We will check the correct towing arrangement. Hitch equipment and fitting are quoted separately.

Material and operation

Use clean, dry salt, sand or grit. Before use, check the towing vehicle can safely pull the loaded spreader and follow the manufacturer manual for setting the spread rate, loading, towing speed, use and cleaning.
